Steve hits his 27th Century- stands equal to Virat Kohli
Australian cricketer, Steve Smith sets a record by hitting a century in the Test Match. He hit his 8th Test Century against India. Smith becomes the 2nd fastest player in the history of Cricket to score 27th century in Test Match.
Now, Smith stands equal to former Australian Captain Ricky, and West Indies’ legendary duo Vivian Richards and Gary Sobers. They all have scored eight- hundreds against India.
Smith has equalled Kohli’s tally of hitting 27th Test Century. Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli took 141 matches each to slam their 27th century. But the Australian player, Steve Smith slammed his 27th century with 136 innings. Smith also became the second-fastest player to get the 27th century.
Performance of Indian Cricketers
With the help of Steve Smith, Australia has scored 338 runs in their 1st innings of this match. The two Indian openers, Shubhman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave a steady start to India’s first innings. Rohit Sharma, from whom people had so much expectation was caught and bowled by Hazelwood for 26 runs.
On the other hand, Shubhman Gill scored his maiden test 50 in the second test match of his career. After scoring his Fifty, Gill was dismissed by Patt Cummins with help of an amazing catch by Cameron Green. At stumps on Day 2, India is 96 for 2 wickets down. Ajinkya Rahane, captain of the side in place of Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara being on strike. India trail by 242 runs at the end of Day 2.
