As the election tussle is finally over with second phase of voting, action returns back to parliament. Winter session of parliament will start today. Though there were talks that winter session of parliament could be cancelled this time around but the winter session will start from today.
PM Narendra Modi ahead of the start said that he expects it to be a ‘fruitful’ session.
Generally winter starts with Diwali. But due to global warming winter has not come in full force. But winter session has started now & I hope that country would be benefited from fruitful 2017-2018 winter session in Parliament. I hope for positive & innovative arguments: PM Modi
Congress is looking to target PM Modi on the remarks made by him about Pakistan interfering in Gujarat elections. Congress leaders looked set to attack the PM on the first day of the winter session.
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Aazad said “For the first time a Prime Minister has accused Former PM, former Vice President and diplomats of conspiring with Pakistan for Gujarat elections. PM must clarify in the Parliament.”
Another Congress leader Anand Sharma had said before “For the first time a Prime Minister has accused Former PM, former Vice President and diplomats of conspiring with Pakistan for Gujarat elections. PM must clarify in the Parliament.”
Though the congress is looking determined to get an apology from PM over his remark, BJP has already rejected their demand and the veteran BJP leader and finance minister termed the incident as ‘political misadventure’.
The first day of the winter session was adjourned today after paying tribute to three sitting and seven former members who died during the inter-session period.
