A day after Honeypreet Insan, ‘adopted’ daughter of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh got arrested, a bizarre incident took place as the United Nations Water has invited both of them to support its World Toilet Day event to be held in November.

The ‘United Nations Water’ seems to be unaware of the fact that the father-daughter duo is in jail.

“Dear @insan_honey, we hope you & @Gurmeetramrahim will lend your voice and support #WorldToiletDay -> https://t.co/oGpfb6FAejpic.twitter.com/KbruArry4k,” read the tweet from UN-Water.

“Dear @Gurmeetramrahim, can we count on your support to celebrate toilets on November 19 – #WorldToiletDayhttps://t.co/oGpfb6FAejpic.twitter.com/3AsNk7YmxZ,” read the other tweet.

The tweets, however, were later deleted. It’s still unclear whether the invitation, which came from a verified UN Twitter account, was valid or being mistakenly sent by the organization.

The rationale behind the United Nations’ decision to invite two of India’s most controversial figures is puzzling. Questions are also being raised on the UN’s awareness about the status of people they invite for their campaigns.

While the twitter users seemed agitated with the tweet, Congress’ Priyanka Chaturvedi‏ was wondering if it was the Haryana government behind the handling of UN entity’s account.

“Is Haryana government handling your account @UN_Water ?? #JustAsking,” she tweeted.

Honeypreet, who is to be produced before Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday, had been evading arrest ever since Ram Rahim Singh was convicted.

Ram Rahim Singh has been convicted of raping two female disciples and is sentenced to 20 years in prison.
