Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Prof Virender Gupta blamed the Article 370 of the Constitution for the creation of a “separatist emotion”, and asserted that the time has come for the people of the state to bid goodbye to it, along with Article 35 A.
He claimed that these articles have done more harm than good and have hampered the progress and development of the state.
“The prevailing situation in the Valley shows that Article 370 has created a separatist psyche and acts as a breeding ground for separatist emotion”, Gupta said.
”The Article is responsible for keeping the settled issue of Jammu and Kashmir alive, motivated and encourages the separatists and external forces to interfere in the internal matters of India and challenge the integrity of the country,” he added.
He alleged the Kashmiri leadership to have exploited the people in the name of Article 370 for its own vested political interests by indulging in a competitive game.
Gupta was in no mood to spare any chance to blame Article 370 and held it responsible for widening the mistrust and alienation between the people of the Valley and those of Jammu and Ladakh regions.
The BJP spokesperson went on criticizing the Article and lamented the fact that Jammu and Kashmir has not been able to develop its own sustainable economy and has remained underdeveloped and backward in many fields in spite of large scale funding from the Government of India.
He appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to look into the utility of Article 35A claiming it is “most discriminatory” and criticized the Article for differentiating between men and women with regard to their rights as the citizen of the state.
