Lok Sabha monsoon Assembly session was adjourned today till 12pm. Congress raised the issue of attack on Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat. Mallikarjun Kharge called the attack on Gandhi cowardly and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party government turned a blind eye to the attack.
Responding to the same, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that Rahul Gandhi refused to follow the security protocols. He said that there was a heavy presence of security personnel but Gandhi chose to take the vehicle which was not bullet proof.
Singh also raised questions on Gandhi’s foreign visits as well. He asked, “In the last two years, Rahul Gandhi was out for 72 days on 6 foreign tours, but didn’t take SPG cover. We want to know where did he go? Why didn’t he take the SPG cover?”
Gandhi, after the incident, took to twitter and said that he was attacked by the Modi government. On the same lines, Congress MP Kharge in today’s session said that it was an attempt to murder which led to the whole ruckus in Lok Sabha.
Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla on Sunday alleged that the stone throwing incident at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s car in Gujarat appears to be “stage managed” by Congress to “gain public sympathy”.
Sampla also added, “Congress is depressed and demoralised these days. People have rejected the party at all places one after the other and it can go to any extent to keep its existence alive.”
There have been various theories floating around the internet that this attack might have been orchestrated by Rahul Gandhi on himself.
Rajnath Singh also praised the Gujarat government and said that they have done a commendable job as they already have arrested one person in connection with the attack.
