Kamal Hassan and Kejriwal to join hands against corruption

With Tamil Nadu politics undergoing a churning, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday met actor Kamal Haasan here for over an hour and invited him to join active politics to fight corruption and communalism.

On his arrival at Chennai airport, the matinee idol’s daughter Akshara Haasan received him, according to ANI report. Kejriwal is meeting Kamal Haasan in Tamil Nadu capital and the two will have “political discussions”, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party was quoted as saying by PTI.

Mr. Kejriwal said, “It’s important at this point of time when we are battling against corruption, all like-minded people should talk to each other and come together.”

They exchanged ideas and discussed the situation in Tamil Nadu. “We will continue to meet,” he added.

On his part, Kamal Haasan said it was an honor to learn that Kejriwal wanted to meet him. His residence was always politically active during his father’s time though he himself had kept away from it, he said.

“You can very well guess what we would have discussed,” said the actor, who has of late been making political statements. He added that whoever was fighting corruption and communalism were his relatives. “That way this relationship will continue.”

Interestingly, Haasan last week had revealed his plan to launch his own political party by the end of September. The local body elections will be held in November 2017. He had been opposing the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, whose political adversary DMK has voiced support for him.
