Justice prevails in the battle of Power V/s Justice in Gaya Road Rage case

A district court in Bihar sentenced JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi’s son Rocky Yadav and two other convicts to life imprisonment.

Sachchidanand Singh, Gaya Additional District and Sessions Judge, also handed a five-year jail to Rocky ‘s father Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav aka Bindi Yadav apart from slapping a fine of Rs 50,000.

The court found them guilty of the murder of a class 12 student, Aditya Sachdeva, in a road rage incident that took place on May 7, 2016.

While Yadav was found guilty of IPC sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage) and section 27 of the Arms Act, Bindi Yadav was held guilty under sections 212 (harboring the offender) and 177 (furnishing false information).

Aditya Sachdeva, a teenager was shot dead by Rocky Yadav on May 7, last year when he was coming back to Gaya from Bodh Gaya after attending a birthday celebration.

Rocky was driving a new Land Rover costing around Rs 1.5crore and carrying a licensed Italian pistol when he got into an altercation with Aditya and his friends, who were returning home after a birthday party in Gaya.

Rocky had fled the spot after committing the crime and took shelter at his father’s factory at Bodh Gaya from where he was arrested 48 hours later.

Earlier on 31 August, the court has convicted all the accused and the quantum of sentence was set to be decided today.

However, the road to Justice was not as easy one as the Sachdeva’s have to go through several obstructions to finally get the justice for their son after a wait of 16 months.

From the Patna High Court granting bail to Yadav to the key witnesses turning hostile, this high profile case has seen it all before the Justice finally prevailed in the fight between Power and Justice.
