Fire in the ‘1 above’ pub located in Kamala mills in Mumbai engulfed 14 lives which was a very unfortunate event to have occurred just before the year-end. The incident was a pitiful event to have occurred. The statements and turn of events after the incident have been confusing as different authorities have different things to say about the mishappening.
Many people said that there were shortcomings on the part of 1 above administration which led to this painful tragedy. While the 1 above administration blamed Mojo Bistro for not having an emergency exit which led guests rushing to 1 above’s emergency exit making it difficult to carry out the rescue operations.
Mojo Bistro also caught the fire but no lives were lost.
We believe that all their guests were told to go through our premises as we have an emergency exit,” the 1 Above statement said.
“1Above has all its fire safety regulations, licences, procedures and norms in place. We’ve been able to help save many lives thanks to our fire safety protocols,” the statement claimed.
There were many hindrances’ in the evacuation process as many of the people who were still present in the pub were busy in casually taking the selfies which made the evacuation process difficult.
Maharashtra CM tweeted after the incident Disturbing to know about the loss of lives in unfortunate KamalaMills fire incident in Mumbai. My thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. Directed the BMC Commissioner to conduct an in-depth enquiry.
Among those 14 people who lost their lives was the 28-year-old woman who was celebrating her birthday.
Following the incident Chief Minister promised against strict action those who are found guilty. BMC suspended five of its officials after the fire tragedy
“We have suspended five officials in connection with the fire tragedy,” Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta told PTI.
