In what came as a shocking news, Buxar District Magistrate (DM), Mukesh Pandey was found dead on the railway track near the Ghaziabad station on Friday.
The body was found with the head severed from the torso.
It’s suspected that he committed suicide at Ghaziabad railway station on Thursday night. His severed body was discovered along with a suicide note with which he was identified.
“I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri in west Delhi…by jumping off the 10th floor of the building. I am fed up with life and my belief in human existence has gone. My detailed suicide note is kept in a Nike bag in room 742 of a five-star (name withheld) hotel in Delhi. I am sorry, I love you all! Please forgive me,” read the suicide note.
Pandey had checked into the posh Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi during the day on Thursday. His body was recovered from the railway tracks at around 9 pm by a team of Government Railway Police (GRP).
Investigators said the motive for the alleged suicide hasn’t been found out yet but sources said marital discord could be a reason for ending his life.
Meanwhile, a senior Delhi Police official said that they received information from his friends that Mukesh would commit suicide and had gone to a west Delhi mall.
A team immediately rushed to the mall but they could not trace him. After scanning the CCTV footage, it was found that he was leaving the mall and going towards a nearby metro station, the official said.
Sources said that he flew to New Delhi on Thursday morning via Varanasi after giving handing over the charge to Buxar Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Mobin Ali Ansari and cited bad health of a close family member as the reason.
Further developments in the investigation remain to be seen.
